Types of therapy
We use two different models of therapy. You can choose the one you would prefer or your therapist can recommend the most suitable model for you at the end of the first session.
Cognitive behavioural therapy
CBT is considered the gold-standard of psychotherapy because of its ability to reduce symptoms. It looks at how we think, how we act, and how avoidance of certain feelings or situations can lead to maintaining our problems.
In the sessions, you and your therapist will explore the thoughts, feelings, and actions you are having. Together, you will identify strategies for doing something different. At the end of each session, you will agree a homework task such as completing a worksheet or expanding your comfort zone. You can work at a pace that feels managable for you and your therapist will support you every step of the way.
Emotion-focused therapy
EFT is an evidence-based psychotherapy that helps people identify, understand and manage their emotions. This type of therapy is popular with those that have found cognitive behavioural therapy unhelpful or feel they want to work on deeper issues.
In the session, you can bring any issues you would like to discuss. You and your therapist will talk about the issues, and the feelings invoked. It may involve role-plays where you explore different parts of yourself or your relationships with others.

Can I use my private health insurance?
If your private health insurance allows you to select any Registered Psychologist then yes. You will need to arrange payment with your health insurance provider.
Do I need an official diagnosis to use your service?
No. Self-identification is fine. In fact, you do not need any diagnosis at all. Everyone is welcome to use our service, including neurotypical people. While we specialise in supporting autistic individuals, we welcome everyone, so a diagnosis is not necessary.
