Leeds Autism Practice

Terms of Business

This page sets how how we do business both when using our services and our website. Please read this information carefully and contact us if you have any questions.

Appointments and cancellations

Appointments start at the scheduled time. If you arrive late, sessions cannot be extended. Please let your therapist know if you are running more than 10 minutes late or you may be marked as a did not attend. Missed sessions are chargeable.

Cancellations must be made at least 24 hours in advance. After this time, you will still be charged.

Online appointments

When attending an appointment online, please be mindful of your surroundings by finding a quiet place where you will not be disturbed. Clients sometimes use their car for privacy, and this is fine, but please note that we cannot conduct a session while you are driving.

If you are disconnected, your therapist will wait for you to reconnect. Please note that the session cannot be extended.

Safeguarding & confidentiality

Everything said within a session is treated confidentially. However, there are some limits to this:

If we feel you are at serious risk to yourself or others, we may need to break confidentiality to prioritise physical safety. This is never done lightly and would always be discussed with you first, where possible. We always prefer to create a safety plan and breaking confidentiality would be a last resort.

If we were compelled to by a court of law.

All practitioners participate in clinical supervision with a trained supervisor. This involves discussing aspects of our clinical work to demonstrate effective therapy is being delivered. Your personal details are not disclosed to the supervisor.

Record keeping and privacy

All records are stored electronically. Your data is stored safely and not held for longer than is necessary in accordance with the Data Protection Act and GDPR. Most practitioners keep a brief set of notes about each session. These are anonymised (no surnames or other identifiable information) and relate to the themes discussed in the session.

Some practitioners may ask for your consent to record sessions for supervision. This is to ensure you are getting the best support possible. Opting into this is entirely optional and declining to do so will not affect your ability to access to our services.

We take your privacy seriously and have a dedicated privacy policy that sets out what personal information we collect and what we do with it.

Professional conduct

Our psychologists are members of the British Psychological Society and bound by the BPS Code of Ethics and Conduct.

If you have a complaint, we encourage you to raise it with us directly and we will always do our best to address your concerns. However, if you feel you are unable to resolve the issue with us, you can access the BPS complaints procedure here.
